A2B-online is pleased to announce the newbuild of two environmentally friendly container vessels.

A2B-online reveals ‘orange is the new green’ and enthusiastically announces the new construction of two sustainable vessels of 650 TEU. The new vessels have been designed with sustainability in mind and will be equipped with the latest technologies to reduce CO2 emissions significantly by up to 95%. The vessels will have a multi-fuel methanol propulsion system, shore power and battery capacity to operate emission free during port and inland water operations.

'Orange is the new green'

The company, which operates seven container vessels, is implementing a fleet revitalisation programme with an eye on the long-term. As it replaces its older tonnage, A2B-online has chosen to construct new vessels with a keen focus on sustainable performance.

Key feature of the new vessels is their optimized efficiency. The increased size of the cargo hold relative to A2B-online’s existing vessels offers double capacity without the requirement to increase the overall length of the vessel significantly.

A2B-online has developed the vessels together with Hamburg-based design and engineering company Technolog Services. The company provides design, engineering and consultancy services to its clients and has been involved with this innovative project since the outset.

Currently under construction at the leading Sedef Shipyard in Turkey, the vessels are expected to be in service by the end of 2024, operating between Moerdijk in the Netherlands and Immingham, UK.

Dinant de Jong, CEO of A2B-online said

“With our new vessels we will contribute to a more sustainable future and demonstrate that it is possible to combine freight transport and environmentally conscious operations. We want to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to all of our customers, suppliers, shareholders and stakeholders for their support and loyalty. Without your trust in us, this achievement would not have been possible.”

75 new trailers in the fleet

In June, 75 new trailers are being introduced into the A2B-online fleet. The first of these trailers are going into service this week. All built to the latest specifications, with the biggest benefit being the improved quality of the floor. These trailers are replacing the oldest ones in the fleet, which are being retired.

With the excellent relationship and past experiences we have chosen to purchase from Krone Trailer.

Transport to the UK during the summer of 2023?

Roadworks at Haringvlietbrug and Heinenoordtunnel During the months of June, July, and August 2023, maintenance will be carried out on the Haringvlietbrug and Heinenoordtunnel. During these works, the A29, which is an important access road to the Port of Rotterdam, will be closed. This will result in increased traffic pressure on other routes such as the A59, A17, and A16 towards Rotterdam during this period.

New trailers

Since this month, the good relationship with our customer Jiffy is also reflected in our 3 newest trailers with advertising for Jiffy Products International B.V. on the door. Our sales manager Sabrina Waterreus was present when the trailers were commissioned (on the photo with Peter van Dieën, Global Logistics Manager at Jiffy).

Sabrina was told by the forwarding office that the cooperation is very nice and that contact with our Customer Service is good and smooth. That makes us happy! Thanks to all our contacts at Jiffy and of course also to our own toppers of the CS team!
