A perfect opportunity for Michael van Keulen (Managing Director A2B-online Container B.V.) to congratulate our partner on itsย anniversary and to briefly take a closer look at A2B-online’s partnership with CCT. On 1 May 2024, CCT celebrated its 20th anniversary.

Celebration for CCT: We congratulate our partner in Moerdijk on its 20th anniversary; the entire team and Managing Director Luc Smits in particular. In the past 20 years, CCT has grown into a network of terminals and an indispensable link in many international cargo flows; what a great achievement! We are grateful for this partnership; for the exceptionally good cooperation and the many great moments we have already experienced together and we confidently look forward to what this partnership will bring us in the future.

The start of the partnership begins in June 2013
โAfter the demise of the then Moerdijk UK shortsea operator was asked by the sector (customers/terminal ) to write a Business Case for starting a shortsea connection between Moerdijk and the UK. Iย already knew the geographical advantages of Moerdijk as well as CCT’s terminal performance – and where there is a will, there is a way: after just a short time of preparation, A2B-online launched in June 2013 and also began its collaboration with CCT.โ
In brief, what does CCT’s service consist of?
โCCT acts as a stevedore and provides cross-docking, repairs and transports within the port of Moerdijk in addition to all common terminal operations.โ
What is the strength of A2B-online and CCT’s partnership?
โThis collaboration can be characterized as a true partnership where decisiveness, short lines of communication, hands-on mentality, trust, openness, honesty, entrepreneurship – and sometimes disagreeing with each other! – are the ingredients.โ
One milestone to highlight
โTo name one milestone is difficult, there are many. But if I mustย pickย one, it’s the conclusion of the 10-year contract that we established on the 10th anniversary of A2B-online container B.V. A contract like that says it all, right?โย ย
How do you see the future of this partnership?
โWe are on our way to write part 2 of the โbeautiful boys’ bookโ (as Luc Smits of CCT so aptly put it) with all the challenges and great opportunities that will undoubtedly come along again. In partnership we trust!โ

8 March 2026 โ With over 3,500 visitors and more than 100 exhibitors, Multimodal Transport Expo 2026 is the annual meeting place for logistics professionals from the Netherlands and Flanders in Breda. This Thursday, 12 March, we will be setting up shop in Breda. A2B-online Container achieves first Lean & Green Star
21 January 2026ย A2B-online Container B.V. has achieved its first Lean & Green Star, marking an important step in the companyโs ongoing sustainability efforts.ย The Star is awarded to organisations that can demonstrably reduce CO2 emissions within their logistics operations. Laura van Marrewijk (project manager Lean & Green NL) visited Moerdijk last week to celebrate this achievement with us and to give a presentation on the Lean & Green programme and the results we have achieved so far. The presentation was followed by the official awarding of the certificate.ย
About Lean & Green
Lean & Green is a recognized CO2 reduction programme for the logistics sector. Participating companies work in a structured and measurable way to lower their environmental impact, with progress acknowledged through a Star system.
The sustainability measures of A2B-online Container B.V.
For A2B-online Container, the first Star confirms that current sustainability measures are delivering results.
These include:
- investments in a more energy-efficient fleet,
- the use of multimodal transport as a lower-emission alternative,
- optimization of fuel consumption
- emissions in daily operations,
- driver training,
- and the use of shore power in ports (scheduled Q3 2026).
First Lean & Green Star first stap
A2B-online will continue to build on this foundation and is currently developing an organisation-wide green strategy to further define and quantify its sustainability objectives.

The A2B Vision was built at the SEDEF shipyard in Tuzla, Turkiye, and is expected to set sail in mid-2026, quickly followed by the A2B Progress. Read more about the construction of our new vessels >ย
Greener, larger and more versatileย
With these new ships, we are fully committed to sustainability and flexibility:
- Sustainable innovation: Equipped with dual fuel methanol engines, gate rudders and waste heat recovery systems to transport goods as greenly as possible.
- Capacity: With a capacity of 650 TEU and space for more than 20 different container types (including 45ft, 30ft and various tank containers), we offer the flexibility that the short sea market demands.

Finally, a word about the people behind the A2B Vision! This achievement would not have been possible without the trust of our customers and shareholders, and the tireless dedication of our colleagues and the professionals at the shipyard. 12,5 Jaar A2B-online Container B.V.
16th December 2025:ย A milestone at Sea. We have cause for celebration: 12.5 Years of A2B-online Container B.V. This week marks exactly 12.5 years since our first containers were shipped. The crossing of 16 containers on the Veritas H, sailing from Moerdijk to Immingham, signaled the start of our first liner service and the beginning of an adventure.
A Brief Retrospect
In June 2013, a highly motivated teamโGerard de Groot, Michael van Keulen, Andrรฉ Mast, Anouk van Hoven, Chris Zwarts, and Patrick van der Smissenโstarted with just one vessel, 16 containers, and a single scheduled service. Leveraging a vast network, years of experience, boundless ambition, and immense energy, this team, in close collaboration with key partners CCT (Combined Cargo Terminals B.V.) and ABP (Associated British Ports) quickly achieved unprecedented growth. That growth has led to what we are today: an organisation with over 40 colleagues, 7 ships of our own, 2,600 45-ft containers, 40 weekly sailings and more than 200,000 shipments.
